Privacy Policy

Overview

ModelMind ("we," "us," "our") is an educational mobile application that teaches AI concepts through interactive exercises. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: If you create an account, we collect your email address and display name to enable cloud sync and social features.
  • Learning Progress: Lesson completions, exercise responses, scores, streaks, and concept mastery levels. This data is stored locally on your device and synced to our servers only if you enable cloud sync.
  • App Preferences: Your selected theme, language, text size, notification preferences, and other settings.
  • Subscription Information: If you subscribe, payment processing is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not collect or store your payment details.
  • Anonymous Usage Data (optional): When you enable "Help Improve ModelMind" in Settings, we collect anonymous usage data: which screens you visit, exercise difficulty and timing, app startup performance, and crash reports. Each batch includes your device operating system, app version, and language. This data never includes your name, email, or any personal information. We cannot trace it back to you.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

  • Track and display your learning progress within the app.
  • Sync your progress across devices when cloud sync is enabled.
  • Improve the app experience through aggregated, anonymized usage analytics.
  • Provide customer support.
  • Improve lesson content, exercise difficulty calibration, and app performance using anonymized usage data, unless you opt out (see Data Training below).

Data Training

By default, your anonymized learning data (exercise responses, completion patterns, error rates) may be used to improve ModelMind's content and features, including training machine learning models for better content recommendations and exercise generation. This data is always fully anonymized before processing and cannot be used to identify you personally.

You can opt out at any time by turning off "Help Improve ModelMind" in the app's Settings screen. When you opt out, your future data will not be collected or included in any training or analysis. Your app experience remains fully functional. Previously processed anonymized data cannot be retroactively removed as it is no longer linked to your account.

Data Storage

All learning progress and preferences are stored locally on your device in the app's private storage area. If you enable cloud sync, your data is also stored on our servers (Cloudflare infrastructure) with encryption at rest and in transit.

Third-Party Services

ModelMind integrates with the following third-party services:

  • RevenueCat: Subscription management. Receives an anonymous app user ID, device platform, and purchase receipts to verify subscription status. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
  • Apple App Store / Google Play Store: Payment processing for subscriptions.
  • Cloudflare: Hosting and content delivery for cloud sync.

We do not share your data with third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking services.

Family Plans

If you subscribe to a family plan, each family member has their own independent account and learning progress. No learning data, exercise responses, or personal information is shared between family members. The family plan is a multi-seat license only.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account through the app's Settings screen, all server-side data is permanently deleted within 30 days. Local data is removed when you uninstall the app.

Children's Privacy

ModelMind is designed for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Parents or guardians who believe their child has provided personal information may contact us at privacy@model-mind.org.

Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Request deletion of your data.
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Opt out of data training (available in Settings).

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email.
